Core phase at OAKTON gets your little learner off to a strong and healthy start. We tuck intentional learning and development into every activity. Don't tell the kids. They think it's just play!

OAKTON's Core program is equipping our littlest learners

with the fundamentals they'll need within the richness, joy,

and depth of the classical tradition.

• Engaging and age-appropriate academics that encourage a love of learning

• Reading with Phonics, including learning to recognize digraphs, blended sounds, punctuation marks and spelling rules

• Math, using manipulatives, games and activities;  includes learning higher-order shapes, fractions and ordinal numbers

• Handwriting, including correct pencil grip and proper letter formation

• Art, including an introduction to the color wheel and art techniques, and working with mixed media
